Did you know that smile is a weapon of seduction? Mindful of the 10 tips for maintaining a healthy mouth and beautiful and smiles again! Our oral hygiene says a lot about us, and although what worries most people is to maintain a perfect white smile, it must be remembered that to achieve this you must first take care of our oral hygiene and keeping our mouths healthy.

Oddly enough, it is as important as any other kind of daily hygiene, and if not cared for properly can cause many inconveniences bothersome and even serious. How to maintain good oral health? It’s simple. Building on the recent launch of the new Listerine Total Care Enamel Repair, Listerine presents the ‘Decalogue for a healthy mouth’, prepared by Dr. Elias Casal, President of the Spanish Society of Oral Epidemiology and Public Health (SESP) and Associate Professor of Unit Preventive and Community Dentistry (UB), which collects some simple guidelines for oral hygiene, which will help you keep your smile healthy and beautiful. Attentive!

Prevention is better than cure. Good oral hygiene is the best way to prevent the onset of disease in the mouth. It also helps us to have a beautiful and healthy smile.
Brush your teeth carefully after every meal for at least two minutes to remove the biofilm attached to the teeth. Remember all surfaces of the teeth and follow a fixed order not to miss any area.
It is important to follow three steps to maintain a healthy mouth. First brush your teeth with a soft bristles toothbrush and toothpaste with fluoride, then uses dental floss and rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash to reach interdental spaces.
Use a soft bristles toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Fluoride repairs and strengthens the tooth surface by direct contact. A higher concentration and longer, the greater the effect.
Use a mouthwash that contains fluoride to remineralize your tooth enamel and prevent wear, thus strengthening your teeth.
Change your toothbrush every 3 months, as the brush becomes less effective and not seize the time spent brushing. Use a size of pasta the size of a pea. For children under 3 years using less toothpaste.
Do not smoke. The snuff increases the risk of cancer, causes premature loss of teeth, bad breath and promotes dental surface stains.
Do not abuse avoid sweet foods and fruit juices and soft drinks, especially between meals. Increase the risk of caries. Drink water.
Visit your dentist at least once a year for a visit of inspection and maintenance. Children should make their first visit about two years, they have gone almost all teeth.

Guadalupe Victoria .- A good technique of brushing teeth after each meal can prevent plaque which causes 90 to 95 percent of cases of parandotitis and can also deepen applied to clean the teeth by the dentist at least once a year, and the consumption of fruit fibers, reducing plaque, said Dr. Ángel González Romero, medical subdelegado Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).

Tooth loss. The paradontitis is a disease that slowly destroys the structures forming the base of teeth, such as ligaments, gums and bone, it can be a source of 30 to 40 percent of the total loss of teeth in people over 25 years and its main manifestation is the gradual swelling of tissues and ligaments arising from the accumulation of plaque around the gum even inside and attached to the tooth and bone.

Damage. According to the degree of destruction of bone tissue is classified into emerging paradontitis when destroyed from one to 20 percent of bone support, moderate to destroy 21 to 60 percent and advanced if predation is 61 bone percent thereafter.

Reviews. The dentist is the only one who can make the timely detection of paradontitis through periodic reviews, usually asymptomatic and gradually destroys the tissues that can cover periods up to eight years, leading to internal abscesses not evident at first glance.

Diseases. I also detected by manifestations of other diseases caused by bacterial plaque and gingivitis, characterized by inflammation of the gums, bleeding, bad taste and odor from mouth, to segregation of pus.

Development. Between five and ten percent of those affected develop the disease by systemic diseases such as HIV or diabetes, as well as poor dental restorations made. According to their development stages, the disease has several treatment options such as plaque control, prevention, brushing techniques and curettage closed, removal of accumulated plaque around the gums.

Habits. When the problem is more advanced it is possible to perform a surgery called curettage opened, which is to open the gums and remove plaque and damaged gum tissue, nerve, tooth root and bone.

However, this treatment is useless if patients do not correct their oral hygiene and order in food, which persist can cause a relapse of the disease and its increase.

Recommendations. Therefore, the Medical Sub-delegate called on people to prevent this and other dental diseases by the application of good technique of brushing after every meal. Also, avoid eating between meals and if necessary, choose fruits such as apples, pears and strawberries, fibrous structure that contributes to naturally clean teeth.

Measures. He also recommended regular visit to the dentist twice a year, and conducting thorough cleaning at least once in the same period. With these measures, he concluded, not only preserve the quality and health of our teeth, but to decrease risk factors for developing diseases of the throat and digestive system, he said.

Between 5 and 10%

of affected people develop the disease by systemic diseases such as HIV or diabetes, as well as poor dental restorations made.

Fortunately, today, cosmetic dentists have a number of teeth restoration options available, one of which is dental implants. Commonly known as dental implants, small titanium roots that are embedded in the jaw, anchor artificial teeth are dental implants. Teeth implants are known to have a success rate of over 95 percent.

Compared with other methods of tooth replacement, such as dental bridges or dentures, dental implants are considered more resistant and durable. As dental implants are embedded directly in the jaw, stimulating close to bone, which also helps prevent bone loss.

If you are wondering if dental implants may be right for you, consider consulting a qualified dental implantologist.

1.The drinks. First, carbonated soft drinks often have a lot of sugar, which is very harmful to our tooth enamel and creates an environment favorable for the formation of the pest. In addition, most soft drinks and soft is very acidic, which is also very harmful and detrimental to the teeth.

2. Citrus. Occasional use of lemons, oranges and other citrus fruits can not lead to enormous damage to our teeth. However, these fruits are rich in natural acids, which if consumed regularly can soften and erosion of tooth enamel, making our teeth weaker and less healthy. Therefore, those who love to eat oranges or tangerines should make a habit of using mouthwash after eating the fruit. Additionally, we recommend drinking orange juice through a straw.

3. Tea and coffee. If you have the habit of drinking 3-4 cups of black tea or black coffee a day, you should pay most attention to the color of teeth. Along with the snuff, regular consumption of coffee or black tea are the main causes darkening of the tooth, and bleaching exhaust rich in tannins and some acids, tea and coffee may have destructive effects on the teeth, but if you want to continue with their habit and still has a bright smile, add a little milk to your daily cup of tea or coffee. Milk has been shown to be capable of neutralizing the negative effects of tannins in the teeth.

4. Wine. The wine is actually a controversial issue that has positive and negative effects on our dental health. As a natural antiseptic, red wine may be used to reduce the risk of dental plague formation and prevention of dental caries. At the same time, wine is also rich in acids, which are harmful to our tooth enamel and sugar. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that regular consumption of wine is linked to increased risk of tooth staining. Therefore, drink plenty of water after drinking wine to remove harmful components of the teeth.

5. Diet pills. The effects of diet pills sometimes cause reduced production of saliva by the glands. As a result, we have a dry mouth and a very favorable environment for various bacteria and formation of dental plague. Remember that effective weight loss is enough to combine a healthy diet with sufficient amounts of exercise. It’s the healthiest solution for both your body and teeth.

Swallow the calcium you need: You need calcium for teeth and bones of your baby. Calcium can be found in milk, cheese, dried seeds and leaves of green vegetables.

0-6 months
Babies need healthy teeth to eat, talk, and smile. Here are three ways to protect your baby’s smile:
Check the amount of fluoride ingested baby: fluouro prevents tooth decay and make teeth stronger. Ask your dentist or doctor if your water has the necessary amount of fluoride to prevent tooth decay. If water is not fluoridated, or if you use bottled water for drinking or cooking, he will prescribe fluoride supplements for your baby.
Avoid putting the baby with the bottle because this may allow the development of many cavities. If you breastfeed your child, avoid doing so continuously. Any liquid (except water) such as milk and juice can cause dental caries. If you think your baby needs to suck on something while you sleep, try using a pacifier or a bottle with water only.
Must look after your own health as well. New studies show that you can transmit the bacteria that cause tooth decay once baby has teeth. This can happen by sharing and / or taste the food of the child or allow the baby to touch your mouth with your fingers. Having caries increases the possibility of transmission of the bacteria therefore should be treated as soon as possible!

Preventing early childhood caries
The early childhood caries is a serious dental disease resulting in tooth decay, pain, infection, early tooth loss, speech problems and loss of self esteem.
The early childhood caries can be prevented. Here are some recommendations:
Avoid putting the baby to be breastfed or bottle continuously.
The only liquid that will not affect your baby’s teeth is water.
According to the American Public Health Association, the baby should be allowed to breastfeed between 12-14 months of age.

-18 months
Here are four ways to protect baby’s smile.
When the baby reaches about 6 to 12 months, should begin using a cup as soon as the baby is able to hold the toys with their hands. This can be difficult at first but the baby will love to learn this new lesson.
Keep your baby play with a bottle. Prolonged exposure to the bottle can lead to the development of early childhood caries.
Brush your baby’s teeth daily. When baby’s teeth start to erupt around 6 months, you should brush your baby’s teeth daily with a soft bristle toothbrush and wet. The best position is probably that you feel and hold a baby in her arms. You can also sit on the floor and put the baby’s head in her lap. Examine your baby’s teeth to detect any cavities. Lift the baby’s lip and look at the teeth, if you see brown spots or white spots, call your dentist.
Visit your dentist. Once the baby is one year, time of first dental visit.

What kind of toothbrush should I use?

Due to the wide variety of shapes, sizes and styles of toothbrushes on the market, it is sometimes difficult to decide what type of toothbrush purchase. At the time of choosing your toothbrush, these are details to consider:
Most professionals agree that the medium-textured brushes are ideal for removing plaque and food debris. Choose small-headed brushes to reach all areas of the mouth including the back molars of difficult access.

Regarding the type of handle (anti-slip or flexible neck), head shape (conical or rectangular), and model of the bristles (rolling, flat or trimmed to a dome shape), choose according to your comfort and recommendation of the dentist. The best toothbrush is the one that fits your mouth and allows you to easily reach all teeth.

Utlized Some people prefer an electric toothbrush. The electric toothbrush can clean teeth better, especially for people who have difficulty making a good brushing or who have limited manual dexterity.

How often should I replace my toothbrush?
Replacing your toothbrush bristles should be done when it desagasten or every three months. It is important to change toothbrushes after a cold since the bristles can collect germs that can cause a new infection.

When our baby is between 6 and 8 months of life, through the time of the birth of their first teeth . If we notice that the little one is more anxious. cranky and crying more than usual, perhaps by this process, which is very uncomfortable and painful. And it is here that we should review our baby’s mouth to check that it has begun teething.

The first teeth to erupt in babies are usually the lower incisors and then the top, also called “paddles.” Then his smile complete with all its little teeth, which will be born to two and a half years old.

A central issue that must be considered in the care of the first teeth is brushing a habit of hygiene necessary for oral health. When should you start brushing? Just born one.

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry must wash the children’s teeth with just a little bit of toothpaste and a small soft brush. As more teeth come out, we will implement more of toothpaste. After 4 years, can brush his teeth alone.

It is necessary for parents to instill in our children the habit of brushing their teeth , teach that it is important to do so after each meal, to get up and go to sleep. One way is to buy toothbrushes for children, with designs, colors and pictures of their favorite characters and flavored toothpastes they love.

Often unaware of the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth , the consequences that flow from not care for it, and what products are right for each case. This is because the decay has been considered a minor ailment, although it affects more than 70% of children . Nor is it known that the major cause of tooth loss in adults is due to the disease periodontal , ie a lack of proper oral care early in life.

Caries is a disease called “civilization” because it is directly related to a soft diet and hiperazucarada , typical of fast food. The presence of sugars on the teeth causes the increase in plaque responsible for tooth decay. Prevention goes through several factors, first controlling or reducing sugars in the diet, ie, avoid soft drinks and snacks between meals and replace the intake of fruit, cheese or a fluorinated products like chewing gum. And, secondly, use toothpaste and mouthwash and do a good brushing with the brush suitable for each type of age. In the pharmacy there is a wide range of products that allow for proper dental hygiene.

There are brushes for children 1 to 2 years to be used without toothpaste, from 3 to 4 years for that age and brush with fluoride toothpaste , but in low concentration, and from 5 years can be used for small head fluoridated toothpaste especially suitable for this age, to taste pleasant to facilitate the child’s motivation. In general, the brushes should be replaced every 3 months of continuous use. General brushing should last 3 minutes and must include all the teeth in the mouth. It is advisable to always follow the same order at the time of doing and do it after every meal . It is very important to start this habit from very small to be incorporated into each day as a daily.

In the market there are toothpastes and dental rinses with low concentrations of fluoride and tastes very nice, specially designed for children. There are also other useful tools such as silk and floss to help us eliminate the remnants of food left between your teeth.

We all know that summer is the most conducive to relax, however the only thing we can not leave out is our health that knows no seasons. Despite being the most anticipated moment to take a short break, is also the best time for parents, who can finally spend more time with their children, instilling good habits lasting for the whole year. As always prevention is the best weapon to fight dental problems, among them, gingivitis, both in children and in adolescents, is one of the greatest concern to dentists.

Gingivitis is the first phase of the disease, periodontal, and although at this age rarely evolve to more advanced forms of the disease such as periodontitis, many children and adolescents suffer. To ensure that our children have healthy teeth as adults, it is essential that oral habits acquired during childhood and adolescence.

Gingivitis is relatively common in children , which causes the gums to become inflamed, irritated and bleed. In this case, as usual, it is best prevention is achieved with a routine daily brushing, the use of thread or dental floss and visit the dentist at least twice a year.

Adolescence is one of the moments of your life more complicated for both parents and their children, one consequence is the lack of motivation to practice oral hygiene. The children who maintain good oral hygiene to 13 years are more likely to keep the same habit over time. And in this age hormonal changes most affect the health of the gums, which together with a lack of oral hygiene as a result cause disease periodontal
