According to dentists, Faculty of Dentistry, São Leopoldo, these foods to be tough, they can clean the tooth surface with the friction plate eliminating waste in the course of proper chewing.

Recommended foods that cleanse the teeth and protect them are: apple, pear, melon, kiwi, carrot, cucumber, spinach, celery, walnuts and chestnuts. Experts say, however, that although they contribute to oral hygiene, not replace tooth brushing and flossing, essential after every meal. “Apples have an interesting mechanism of action, contain polyphenols that stimulate saliva flow and help in cleaning your teeth. But because they contain acids, at risk of developing cavities. So brush and floss should never be left to use” , explains Professor Butini Luciane Oliveira.

If we choose a hard brush, too large or uncomfortable for the child, the toilet will be incomplete and the possibility of having caries teeth or spots increase.
For a correct choice of toothbrush is important to consider the following tips.

* The toothbrush should be small, this would facilitate better movement within the mouth.
* The toothbrush bristles should be soft and flexible. A brush bristle small but hard can hurt both the gums and teeth.
* We recommend having a round head and square head that are more difficult to reach all corners of the mouth.
* The handle of the toothbrush is better if the rubber is soft or rather, to facilitate the grip of it.
* This brush must be replaced every 3 months or sooner if you look very worn.

Other tips
To help in the task of brushing teeth, we can consider the following ideas

* When purchasing a brush let your child choose the one with his favorite character (so you do not choose one that is not suitable for your mouth, give the choice between 3 or 4 models that meet the above conditions named).
* Find a bench or something similar so that the child can get on and look in the mirror while brushing teeth.
* In order to rinse your mouth, use a plastic glass of the image has a representative character for the child.
* Brush your teeth with the child, will be a shared while brushing and may imitate and to improve her style.
* Check both your smile after brushing your teeth. They can also watch before washing and after it, to tell the difference between the two moments, especially when we have eaten foods that adhere to teeth, or are between them.
* Remember that you should never share your toothbrush with other children, even with his brothers.
