Tips for healthy teeth and gums for their children.
- Before your child is the first teeth appear, wipe the gums with a damp washcloth or gauze pad after each feeding to remove any food particles and stimulate the gum tissue.
- When will the first tooth appears, begin brushing with a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small amount (about the size of a pea) of fluoride toothpaste.
- A small amount of fluoride toothpaste helps prevent tooth decay.
- When your child is 2 or 3 years old, you can start teaching the proper way to brush your teeth. Up to 7 or 8 years should supervise when you brush your teeth.
- When your child turns one year or six months after her first tooth, start making regular visits to your dentist.
- Encourage your child to eat healthy and nutritious meals and avoid snacking between meals.
